Mold

We have certainly been SO blessed. We decided when Chelsea was born that I would be a stay at home mom even though it would be tight financially. When she was born we had the added surprise expense of my surgery in California. Then with the huge economic crisis we have definitely been tried, but also have been so overwhelmed at how things have just worked out. We have been faithful to the things we believe in and for it we have been abundantly blessed.

Now we have a little bit of a challenge. We found out that nearly all commercial construction companies are in a hiring freeze. This makes us quite nervous since Matt graduates in April. He has a potential job who has told him they will be sending him an offer letter this month, but many jobs who have sent out offer letters have now frozen those offers, so we are nervous. Nervous, but hopeful.

On top of that we have found mold in our house. Not just a little mold. A lot of mold. We have mold starting on the ceiling from the front door stretching back to the back of our bedroom. On top of that there is water leaking through on a couple of spots. So we know for sure there is a leak. We have been talking to our managers about it for a week and have just had frustration regarding the whole thing. Matt called the owners today and talked over the problem with them. Fortunately the owner was WONDERFUL and offered to let us out of our contract if we need to. The only problems:

1) We have to move and that involves packing everything and moving it into a new place. However, it would be totally worth it to not deal with health problems having to do with the mold.

2) The expense of moving

3) Where are we going to move that will be a reasonable price and will allow us to leave at the end of April or let us go month to month after that?

So if you know of anything, let us know. Until then we will try to figure out what to do.

But even with all of this I do feel blessed :)

I'm so sorry to hear that! That's horrible that there's mold in your house! As far as I know, the other half of the duplex we live in is available for rent - It would be around $650/month (maybe $675?) in rent which is fairly pricey, but it's month to month right now. Three bedrooms, washer and dryer... if we hear about anything else, we'll let you know.

Keep checking BYU's housing website. I used to know all the links and how to guide through the webpage, but they've changed it. However, there is a place where landlords can list vacancies, and then a tenant can go through and look at all possible vacanies, sorting by price, location, size, etc. It might be worth it and since it's close to BYU they'd possibly be willing to work with the whole end-of-the-semester thing.

There's an apartment complex not too far from us that has month-to-month contracts. I'm not sure how many bedrooms, etc., but I can ask.
That's way sad about the mold, but I'm glad the owner is being so flexible!

Oh Crutch... you always have a place with us. Or we can help you find a place. Just let us know.
